The first aquaduct on the island

After several years of hard work, in the year 1978 the first aquaduct was opened, providing a source of fresh water for the entire island. |

The whole town gathered for this historical moment. The first glass was poured and offered to the town's most senior citisen, who, after thorrough tasting, proclaimed it to be excellent. |

The festivities continued through the whole summer that year. |
 |

While digging through my photo archive I fond several photos of community work actions. The 1974. photo shows the pipeline trench prior to laying the water main in Sepurina. Several photos dating to 1976. show Trstevica, where water mains from Luka and Sepurina were connected to form a central island waterworks. |
